For convenience purposes, we’ve compiled some Frequently Asked and Unasked Questions that will help you with your wedding planning. Some of them have been asked at one point or another. And some of them we’d like you to ask. What is your style, how do you guys work and what will you usually do on a typical wedding day?

When you book us for a Dubai or UAE wedding package for photography or videography, we start covering from the time the bride gets her makeup done (which is usually 3 hours before the groom starts getting ready) until the reception. However, we only cover up to a maximum of 10 hours.

I would like to book you for my wedding, how do I start?

As soon as we agree on the quote, it’s a 2 step process from there. We require a downpayment to block the date for you and then we sign the contract. Khalas. A few weeks before the wedding, we then require a meeting for us to discuss the timeline for the day and other requirements.

How far should I book in advance?

We’re usually booked 2 months before a wedding date. So to ensure you get the date that you want, it would be best if you booked us 3-6 months prior to your date.

I won’t be married in Dubai or the UAE. Do you do destination weddings?

We have wanderlust. So we definitely do destination weddings. We typically arrive 2-3 days before the event to ensure that there are no unexpected travel delays. Let us know where your wedding will be and we’ll figure out the best way to get there. See one of our destination wedding work here.

Aside from photography, I also need videography for my wedding. You guys do cinematography. What’s the difference?

This is going to be quite a long explanation so brace yourself. Here goes… A cinematic wedding or wedding cinematography is a storytelling film. We tell your story through clips or a mix of speeches, clips and music. The film is shot very differently as the cinematographers will shoot in short clips. Why short clips, you ask? Because we are shooting to tell a story, not just document every single minute of your wedding day. That’s why we include a 15-20 minute wedding film and not a 4 hour edit on our standard cinematography package. Just remember, a cinematic wedding film lasts forever and if it’s epic, you can play it over and over again and have it watched by anyone without feeling the urge to hit that fast forward button.

But I also want to see every single minute of my wedding. I want a 4 hour edit!

That would be a traditional or documentary edit. That is your typical over-the-shoulder camera that is usually shot continuously. There’s not much creativity involved besides following the couple around and documenting everything that’s being done. There’s no storytelling involved and nothing would be done in the edit that would make you go and say “awww”. It’s pretty much a point and shoot thing. We do offer that, but as an optional add on. We do not recommend this as this is not our style, but yes, we can do this.

I want to see everything happening live on a projector screen. Do you have live feed?

Because we are cinematographers and not typical videographers, we use a different set of equipment. So the live feed is not included in our standard package because it requires a different camera and a lot of cable. We do however, offer it as an optional add-on.

How many hours do you suggest we set aside for the wedding day photos and videos?

The 2 most important ingredients for an epic photo are time and light. Please do take the time to drop us an email outlining a draft of the day’s timeline before you finalize it. Sharing special details and asking for feedback is worth it’s weight in gold. Remember, different vendors have different requirements. As photographers and cinematographers, we require time. Lots of it. As soon as a rough draft is composed, please feel free to send it to us for valuable insight so we can balance the partying and photos. Ideally we suggest the following:
Preparation shots: 1-2 hours. This is when we do the details (ring shots, bridal gown, venue, etc), separate bridal portraits, groom’s portraits.
Couple’s session: 1-1.5 hours. If you do not have a ceremony, then this is where we do the “first look”. We then proceed and do the creative couple shots.
Family formals and group shots: 1 hour. If there’s a ceremony, this usually happens after. Otherwise, we do it before the wedding, while there would be ample light.
If we’re doing both the photography and cinematography for you, the above will suffice. If we do only the photography or cinematography and there’s another team, you may need to allocate a longer time as there’d be 2 teams vying for your time and attention.

What happens if we go beyond the contracted amount of time?

We understand that not everything goes as planned during a wedding. In fact, perhaps only 1 of 20 of the weddings we have shot have ever gone on time. We never pack up before the contracted time. Also, we never pack up on the dot when the contracted time is up. If you would like us to extend, we will charge the rates specified in your contract.

But I have a lot of downtime in my event. Can you charge for 3 hours, go away for 2 hours, and then come back?

For a variety of reasons, we charge you for the time in between events. When you book us, we do not book anyone else for that day. Also, we’re not truly resting during the day, there are images to back up, quadcopters to fly, batteries to charge, venues to be travelled to, or lost photo time to be made up to because trust us, there will be unforeseen delays on a typical wedding day.

Can you give me a discounted rate if I book you for just 5 hours instead of 10?

Yes, but that would not be much of a discount, it would be negligible. The truth of the matter is, we’re not giving you “just 5 hours”. We do spend hours emailing and talking to you for days, weeks, months before your wedding to make sure we are well coordinated and all details go according to your plan. And most importantly, whether you book us for 5 or 10 hours, we still do spend a gazillion number of hours post processing your photos and videos. So no, a wedding booking for us is never “just 5 hours”. The same answer goes for this question, “I only need a few photos taken, is that cheaper?”.

What is your policy on breaks? If you require a meal break, do we provide you with a meal?

Ric panics when he’s hungry. Sunshine transforms into a female version of the Incredible Hulk. Josephus is still his usual calm self. Life is not fair. We usually require 1 snack and 1 meal for a typical wedding day. And no, we do not take meal breaks so we ensure that we do not miss anything. We usually eat during downtimes and never all together. Yani and Noel usually eat first, because they may be kin to the decepticons.

What is the difference between a Pre Wedding Shoot and a Post Wedding Shoot?

The difference is their prefix. I’m kidding. A pre wedding shoot is what other people call a prenuptial shoot or an engagement session/shoot. Sometimes it’s themed, sometimes it’s not. The pictures are typically used for the wedding website, or the wedding guestbook or a wedding slideshow. The video could be a trailer to the wedding, or in the age of the interwebs, a digital invitation or Save The Date video. A post wedding shoot on the other hand is a Trash the Dress shoot. You may be scared to climb up a tree on your wedding day for fear of ruining your dress. The post wedding shoot would be the perfect time to take that epic shot.

What is a Same Day Edit?

A Same Day Edit is a wedding highlights video or a wedding highlights image slideshow or both which we pioneered in the UAE. We show them during your reception, preferably towards the end of the night. Read more about it here.
